The Manila Polo Club is a green piece of horse heaven in this overcrowded chaotic city. It is the first place I headed the first weekend I arrived. I have been there a few times since to get a "horse hit", but as yet have no been able to get a ride. There are a group of people here that keep their horses at the club just so they can ride without having to travel for hours at a time to get out of the city. The showjumping competition season has just started and the polo season only runs for 2 months of the year from January. I attended a showjumping event last weekend and although there are masses of poorly paid people here doing menial tasks the first prize has to go to the people standing at the outside carvery with rags in sticks shooing the flies away.
