Port Louis is the capital city of Mauritius and located on the central west coast of the island. It is essentially a port town and has been ever since Mauritius was discovered by the Dutch over 400 years ago. Ruled by the Dutch, French, English and now themselves it is a melting pot of different cultures and religions. Like any self respecting African town (yes, Mauritius is still considered part of Africa) it has a colourful central market, but this one only sells fruit and vegetables.
